What is an ICP?
An ICP describes the companies and contacts you want to win — geography, industry, size, signals.
An Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) is a structured description of the companies and people you sell to best. In Aidealy your ICP drives every search, every enrichment, and every score — so it's worth taking the time to get it right.
What's inside an ICP
An ICP is a set of structured fields. You don't fill in free-form sentences — you pick from categories so the platform can match leads precisely. Here are the building blocks you'll set in the wizard:
| Field | What it captures | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Industry | The sectors of companies you target | SaaS, Fintech, Logistics |
| Geography | Countries, regions or cities your customers operate in | DACH, US East Coast, EMEA |
| Company size | Headcount or revenue bracket of target companies | 50–500 employees |
| Decision-maker roles | The job titles you want to reach inside each company | Head of Sales, VP Marketing |
| Signals | Buying signals or attributes that strengthen the match | Recently funded, hiring SDRs |
| Exclusions | Industries, regions or company types to keep out | No agencies, no non-profits |
Why it matters
A precise ICP returns fewer but better-fit leads, and the AI score becomes a meaningful prioritisation tool instead of a random number. A vague ICP returns thousands of mediocre matches that all score in the middle — useless for prioritisation. Spend ten minutes on a good ICP and save hours of triage downstream.
One more thing: ICPs are reusable. Build an ICP once and you can attach it to multiple Lead Lists, run scheduled searches against it, and re-score existing leads when you tighten or relax the criteria. Most teams build their first ICP in under five minutes by chatting with the assistant — see Build an ICP with the AI chat. Prefer to drive the form yourself? The manual wizard covers the same fields.
